Cooper Gulch Campground can be found on the south side of Lewiston Lake. Proximity to this lake makes it an ideal choice for campers who are also freshwater anglers. In addition to fishing, you should also consider taking the opportunity to visit the fish hatchery at the Lewiston Dam. Even if you don't fish, you can still find fun on the lake at Cooper Gulch. The lake is good for canoeing and there are hiking trails in the forested area around the lake. This campground includes vault toilets, but no showers.

If you're going camping in Northern California, then you certainly should consider heading to Redwood National Forest. This campground can be found seven miles south of Crescent City. These trees are some of the most amazing natural wonders in the world and more than worth the visit. Several campgrounds can be found among the Redwoods, but Del Norte offers 275 multipurpose sites that include showers and restrooms and paved internal roads. Mill Creek offers opportunities to reel in salmon and the hiking trails around the campground may result in sighting wildlife ranging from deer to coyotes to bears.

Mountain Gate RV Park has 122 RV sites and 370 miles of shoreline around Lake Shasta. This lake provides opportunities for anglers to reel in big bass and trout, but is also a great place for more high octane activities like water skiing and jet skiing. There is also an outdoor pool and horseshoes around the camping area. Mt. Shasta is a wonderful place to explore even if you don't buy into the idea that it is a haven for extra-terrestrials. Lassen Volcanic Park is home to hiking trails, geysers and hot springs. A boat ride through Lake Shasta Caverns reveals all the beauty of stalactites and stalagmites.

Spring Creek Campground is located in Portola, California. The campground itself is in the Frenchman Lake Recreation Area and most of the sites offer a view of the lake. Facilities include vault toilets, but no showers. The internal roads are paved and lead to a rocky shoreline surrounded by mountains. There are five tent-only sites and 29 multipurpose sites at Spring Creek. The lake offers the chance for swimming and there is also a boat ramp if you want to head out for some fishing. The area surrounding the lake is home to several miles of hiking trails.
