Secluded Campgrounds in Northern California

Northern California features some of the most beautiful and unspoiled scenery in the United States. The region is home to Mount Shasta, the Yosemite Valley, the Big Sur coastline and acres of redwood forests. A great deal of Northern California is made up of state and national parks, including Big Basin Redwoods State Park and Lassen Volcanic National Park. Outdoor enthusiasts who visit Northern California tend to want to stay in the most natural, secluded areas they can find, and luckily there a number of such places.
  1. Silver Springs Mountain Retreat

    • Silver Springs Mountain Retreat has lodge rooms, cabins, campsites and tent camps. The resort is located on 80 acres of mountaintop land in the town of Hayfork and is surrounded by the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. There are four tent camps, such as Camp Shasta, located on the edge of the canyon; Hawk’s Nest, with views of the Trinity Alps; Forest Camp, set in an old-growth grove of trees; and Spring Camp, located close to a water table.

You don’t have to buy a ton of equipment to go tent camping at the resort, either, which already includes tents, camp beds, foam mattresses, sheets, camp stoves and cookware.

The bathing area overlooks the Chanchelulla Wilderness Area, and all water is warmed by a solar heater. Silver Springs Mountain Retreat has daily, weekly and monthly rates. Grocery shopping service is available for an additional fee.
