November in particular has holiday-rich events sure to entertain the family. From free family activities to food fests to shopping events, Houston has something to offer everyone.
The Cinema Arts Festival is an annual event that showcases the film works of Houston area institutions like The Museum of Fine Arts and The Menil Collection. The festival also promotes the efforts of the local artists and filmmakers of Houston as well. To top off the celebration, the program will include a lineup of music performances, interactive videos on its outdoor movie projection and theatrical shows. Six thousand attendees are expected to show their support for the 2010 event.

Blues and Burgers is an annual event in November held at Houston's Discovery Green Park. On November 10, 2010, Anheuser-Busch will present Pearl Murray on its sound-stage along with other local blues talent during this outdoor lunch fest. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs---burgers, beer and wine are available for purchase on-site.

Nutcracker Market presents its own holiday kick-off event for shopping. The Ballet Guild's Nutcracker Market has been a special annual tradition for 30 years. Visitors can shop the extravaganza--held at the Reliant Center--which features festive holiday decorations, food, clothing and jewelry. Plus, more than 300 independent vendors from all across the country usually participate. Admission is $12 at the door.

The Ensemble Theatre's November season has a full schedule of theatrical performances for the whole family. During the 2010 to 20111 season, the classical tale of Cinderella comes to life with a new, fresh interpretation behind the story of the maid-turned-princess--performed by the African American Shakespeare Company. For over 50 years, the H.E. Butt Grocery Company (H-E-B) has been putting on its annual holiday parade, and bringing in more than 400,000 parade-goers. The parade is televised live and features lavish sensational floats by community retail chains, businesses, uniformed marching bands and even an appearance by Santa Clause himself. The parade is free to the public and will begins at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning in downtown Houston.
