The Comedy Showcase has entertained audiences in Houston since 1983 with comedians who are trying to appeal to a wide variety of people. Located in the North Houston area, Laff Spot Champions features stand-up comedians in a club atmosphere. Shows are on weekends, Friday through Sunday, and some Thursdays for special events. Laff Spot Champions features a food menu with appetizers, meals and dessert, and a large drink menu with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Comedy Sportz Houston is a venue that features improvisational comedy routines by "teams" of comedians. The teams compete on stage for audience laughs as they perform skits, games and songs based on suggestions from the crowd. Comedy Sportz welcomes comedy fans of all ages, so shows are clean and appropriate for kids, teens, adults and senior citizens. Regular shows are held Friday and Saturday nights, and special kids shows are featured one Saturday afternoon once a month. Comedy Sportz Houston also offers summer youth improv camps.

Third Coast Theater features improv shows, sketch comedy shows, improv classes and team-building exercises. The theater's Friday and Saturday night improv and sketch comedy shows are family-friendly, PG-rated performances. Shows are interactive, and many nights audience members are invited on stage to participate. Classes include improv, improv for women, method acting and workshops for kids. Corporate training sessions include teaching the "rules of improv" and how they can be applied to life and the workplace. Third Coast Theater also hosts special events throughout the year.
