Valdosta is situated in the southern state of Georgia. It is part of Lowndes County, for which it also serves as its county seat. Valdosta is just under four hours away from Atlanta, by car. It is commonly referred to as the "Azalea City" due to its abundant amounts of the flower. The city hosts an Azalea festival every March.     WG Nunn Elementary Summer Art Day Camp

    • WG Nunn Elementary Summer Art Day Camp is a Valdosta program that is designated for children that are between kindergarten and the fifth grade. The camp's entire proceeds are donated to purchase school supplies for WG Nunn Elementary School's the following year. The day camp lasts for five days and is instructed by art education students from Valdosta State University and two certified art teachers. The day focuses on an array of art and media options including papier-mache, ceramics, painting, printmaking and puppetry. The camp fee includes supplies. However, students must bring their own lunches and snacks.

    Ecology Day Camp

    • Ecology Day Camp is an academic summer day camp program put together by Valdosta State University's College of Arts and Sciences. Ecology Day Camp is specified for high achieving students between sixth and eighth grades. The day camp focuses on providing students with hands on and interactive field experience. The day camp's mornings are spent at Lowndes County's Lake Louise observing its ecology (geology, chemistry and biology) and acquiring samples. After a brief lunch, students visit the Bailey Science Center to analyze and evaluate their collected samples. The day camp ends with a pizza party and the students all presenting their findings to their family and friends.
