Brevard County, a large county along the eastern cost of Florida, is also referred to as the Space Coast because it is home to Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. The county is rich with golf courses, spas, parks, beaches and cultural activities. During the summer months, Brevard County also hosts numerous recreational and educational camps for children and teenagers.
The Brevard Zoo provides weeklong camps for children ages 6 through 14. The camps for 6- to 7-year-olds introduce children to the variety of animals that the zoo houses and the animals' natural habitats. For 8- to 9-year-olds, the camps focus on learning about predatory nature and critical thinking regarding animal behavior. The camps for 10- to 14-year-olds dive even deeper into understanding animal behavior and the wetlands, beaches and forests of Central Florida.
The zoo also offers a weeklong art camp for children ages 6 through 11 that provides animal education through the use of art, song, dance and acting.
