Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida is a family vacation paradise. Besides the Magic Kingdom, several other theme parks and attractions exist for people of all ages to enjoy. One of those parks is Typhoon Lagoon, a water park that has a variety of water rides and activities. Shark Reef is located at Typhoon Lagoon, which is an area that allows older kids, teens and adults to swim with sharks.
Purchase tickets to Typhoon Lagoon. This can be done online at disneyworld.com or in person at the park.
Visit Shark Reef when you arrive at Typhoon Lagoon. All snorkel gear and life jackets are provided by the park at no extra cost. If you wish to dive with the sharks for a longer period of time, visit Hammer Head Fred's Dive Shop at Typhoon Lagoon to rent Supplied Air Snorkeling equipment. There is an extra fee for renting this equipment.
Listen to the simple rules that Shark Reef staff members will provide: do not touch the fish, stay relaxed, swim slowly to the exit stairs when you are ready to get out and make sure your masks and snorkels are properly in place.
Enter the water at Shark Reef when you have all equipment ready and you are instructed that it is okay for you to get in the water. The Leopard and Bonnethead sharks found in Shark Reef are gentle and passive, as are the other tropical fish you will see. Nonetheless, it is always a good idea to practice snorkel safety rules: swim with a buddy, and make sure you are comfortable breathing through the snorkel before diving below the surface.
