Many people don't think of New England when they're searching for a good place to go off roading, but there are many impressive ATV trails throughout the region. From the state-maintained New Hampshire Trails Bureau to the many ATV clubs of Maine that work together to provide a large trail network, any avid ATV driver can find plenty of good trails in New England.
The ATV trails in New Hampshire's Jericho Mountain State Park were opened in 2005. This park is only 10 miles from the Maine border and is just north of the White Mountain National Forest. More than 40 miles of ATV trails are accessible at Jericho. They are open all summer and sometimes into early fall. The park is open throughout the year and is free of charge. But it is not staffed, so visitors should have a cell phone, GPS and first-aid kit in case of emergency.

The Aroostook Valley Trail is based in the Aroostook State Park in northern Maine, which is within 15 miles of the Canadian border to New Brunswick. This park covers more than 600 acres, and the ATV trails not only run through the park but also follow the old rail bed through other wilderness. The Aroostook Valley Trail is an abandoned rail bed trail, which makes it ideal for three-season ATV use.
