One piece of carry-on baggage with a total weight of 25 pounds, as well as one personal item such as a coat, briefcase or purse, is permitted for economy passengers; first and business class passengers are allowed two carry-ons weighing a total of 40 pounds in addition to the personal allowance. Small musical instruments can be carried as long as they fit the size restriction of 45 inches overall, but larger items, such as a cello, require the purchase of an additional seat to travel in the cabin.
Economy class passengers may take two bags each weighing up to 44 pounds as checked baggage free of charge. Business class patrons are allows two pieces weighing up to 66 pounds and the first class cabin is allowed up to 88 pounds for each piece. The size of each piece must not exceed 62 total inches.
Keep the baggage claim ticket you were given at check-in to verify you've grabbed the correct bag upon arrival. If the baggage is lost or damaged, notify Korean Air immediately with the baggage claim number. Lost luggage should be reported within 21 days and damaged items within seven days.
Explosive or highly flammable material may not be carried in checked or carry-on baggage. One personal lighter or match book is allowed on board if your flight is not leaving from, or arriving in, the United States. Liquids are limited on board to a one-quart bag filled with 3-ounce containers, according to the International Civil Aviation Organization. Additional liquids, however, may be carried in checked luggage.
