List of United Airlines Hubs

United Airlines flies to more than 200 destinations both within the U.S. and internationally on approximately 3,300 flights, making it one of the largest international airlines. In the U.S., United has five hubs located in Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. United Airlines uses these hubs as transfer points for passengers on indirect flights to change planes.
  1. Chicago O'Hare International Airport

    • Chicago O'Hare International Airport is United Airlines' largest hub, with more than 600 departures every day. United has operated from O'Hare (ORD) since 1955. All United Airlines and United Express passengers use Terminals 1, 2 and 5; Terminal 1 specifically is for domestic and international travelers and Terminal 5 for international arrivals. In 2009, O'Hare was selected as the

      Best Airport in North America by Global Traveler Magazine for the 10th consecutive year.

    Denver International Airport

    • United Airlines has operated within Denver International Airport since 1937. With more than 400 daily departures, it has become United's second-largest hub. Denver (DEN) has United Airlines ticket counters and curbside check-in at the west side of the building and uses the B Gates of the airport. Denver operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    San Francisco International Airport

    • The San Francisco International Airport serves tens of millions of passengers each year and employs more than 20,000 workers. United Airlines has flown from SFO since 1926. Domestic United and United Express travelers board at Terminal 3 while international United passengers board from the International terminal. SFO also features bands playing live music for United Airlines travelers at Terminal 3. Bands play on Fridays during the summer.

    Los Angeles International Airport

    • United Airlines has nearly 250 departures every day from Los Angeles International Airport and has operated within the airport since 1926. Los Angeles (LAX) served 59.8 million passengers and transported 1.8 million tons of cargo in 2008. Premier, first class and business class passengers of United board at Terminal 6. United and United Express passengers board at Terminal 7 and United paper tickets and non-ticketed travelers board at Terminal 8.

    Washington Dulles International Airport

    • Washington Dulles International Airport is located in Dulles, Virginia. United Airlines has departed from Dulles (IAD) since 1963, making it the youngest of United's existing hubs. The airport opened a year before and has grown to serve more than 23 million travelers in 2009. In 1998, a secured facility was opened by the federal government in Concourse C for United passengers traveling on international flights connecting to domestic flights.
