How to Ride a City Bus

Most major U.S. cities have a public bus transportation system. Buses are an important component of an integrated mass transportation system, which includes subways, trolleys and light rail. As an efficient form of mass transportation, bus travel has increased over the last few decades; it contributes to a sustainable environment. According to the American Public Transportation Association, each year 16.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions are reduced as a direct result of people using public transportation, rather than personal vehicles; bus ridership constitutes over half of public transit and continues to grow.
