How do I Repair a Delaminated RV?

Delamination is caused by moisture getting between the insulator and the exterior panel. The first step to repairing delamination is finding where the moisture is coming from and fixing that problem. To help understand the problem you must know the RV's wall construction, which consists of an inner wall beside dense, two-inch thick Styrofoam and a strong exterior wall as well. All three parts are laminated (or glued) together.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Park the RV next to a wall or fence. Drill holes along the top of the delaminated area. Alternate spaces going down to the bottom of the delamination.

    • 2

Fill the syringe with the resin. Inject the resin into the top holes until it shows up at the bottom holes. Keep injecting resin and moving down the delamination area until the bottom holes are showing resin coming out of them.

    • 3

Wipe off any excess resin while applying pressure to the wall of the RV. Place the drop cloth over the delaminated area. Place the board over the plastic drop cloth.

    • 4

Wedge the board against the fixed area using the 2-by-4 inch board and the wedges. Allow the resin to dry overnight.
