The Gallup KOA and the Grants/Cibola Sands KOA are in the northwestern part of New Mexico. Both campgrounds are open all year and provide accommodations for RVs and tents. Visitors to these campgrounds can also rent cabins at the campground. Visitors staying at the Gallup KOA can easily drive to the Canyon de Chelly, El Malpais and Chaco Canyon. The Grants/Cibola Sands KOA is a fine place for visitors who wish to tour Acoma Pueblo, or "Sky City."
Three KOA Campgrounds are in the Northeastern part of New Mexico. Visitors interested in seeing the Capulin Volcano National Monument can stay any time of year, at the Clayton KOA or the Raton KOA. Guests of the Raton KOA can easily visit the Boy Scout Museum and the Santa Fe Trail, as well. The Tucumcari KOA is on Interstate 40 and boasts fabulous views of the Tucumcari Mountain. It provides a quiet country atmosphere and is open all year.
KOA Campgrounds are in Las Vegas, Santa Fe and Albuquerque for those visitors interested in touring the northcentral part of New Mexico. The Las Vegas KOA provides RV sites, tent sites, and cabins to visitors wishing to take in all the sites of Las Vegas. The Santa Fe KOA Campground, located 45 miles from Las Vegas, offers accommodations from March 1 to Nov. 15. Two KOA Campgrounds are nearby Albuquerque. The Albuquerque North/Bernalillo KOA offers accommodations close to the International Hot Air Balloon Festival and a shaded pool. The Albuquerque Central KOA is just off of I-40 at the base of the Sandia Mountains. It is the closest campground to the Expo New Mexico Fairgrounds.
Southern New Mexico is the home to four more KOA Campgrounds, in Carlsbad, Las Cruces, Silver City and Lordsburg. Guests at the Carlsbad KOA can enjoy a heated pool and hot tub after visiting the Carlsbad Caverns, the Sitting Bull Recreation Area, and Roswell's International UFO Museum. The Las Cruces KOA offers visitors a panoramic view of Las Cruces and the Mesilla Valley. Tourists, who wish to visit both Carlsbad Cavern National Park and Grand Canyon National Park, should consider the accommodations at the Silver City KOA. It is conveniently situated between these two popular tourist destinations. Lordsburg KOA is off of Interstate 10 between Tucson and El Paso. Guests can tour ghost towns, Rockhound State Park, Gila National Forest, and White Sands Memorial Monument.
