Camp Grounds & RV Resorts in Georgia

Georgia is "Gone with the Wind" country: stately Southern mansions and Civil War battlefields. But Georgia has much more to offer visitors, from golfing to camping and fishing in the great outdoors. With dozens of campgrounds and RV parks located throughout the state, travelers are sure to find one close to the attractions they want to see.
  1. Twin Oaks RV Park & Campground

    • Twin Oaks RV Park & Campground is in Elko, two hours south of Atlanta or two hours north of the border with Florida. Surrounded by pecan orchards and cotton fields, Twin Oaks is close to many attractions, including Georgia National Fairgrounds, Andersonville Civil War prison and Warner Robbins Air Museum. Park amenities include swimming pool hot tub, club house, internet, bathhouses and a recreation area for playing volleyball, horseshoes and basketball. Full-service RV sites are up to 100 feet long and have concrete slab patios with picnic tables.

    Creekwood Resort

    • Creekwood Resort offers both camping and cabins two hours north of Atlanta in Sautee, which is near the mountain village of Helen. Creekwood is on 18 acres surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest. It is close to Unicoi State Park with its hiking trails. The resort has 17 full-service concrete RV sites with picnic tables on gravel. All sites have cable TV but the Internet is not accessible from all sites. Horseshoe pits and a volleyball net also are available, as are a bathhouse and laundry. The resort is open year round but says it does not accept permanent residents.

    Savannah South KOA

    • Savannah South is one of eight KOA campgrounds in Georgia. It is 15 miles south of the gracious city of Savannah and about 30 miles from Tybee Island's beach. Savannah South has a 35-acre lake private lake where campers can watch ibis and herons land on its island in the evening. Because the lake is private, fishing does not require a license; boats are available for rent. Some of the camp and RV sites are located on the lake. This KOA also has an RV wash facility and a swimming pool, among other amenities.

    Seminole State Park

    • Seminole State Park has 50 tent and RV campsites in the southwestern section of the state just north of the border with Florida. Lake Seminole is a 37,500-acre reservoir which offers fishing, boating and birding activities. Some campsites with beachfront are available. Other water activities include skiing, tubing and swimming; canoe rentals are available. Campsites are 40 feet long; water and electrical hookups are available for RV campers. Alligators are occasionally seen in the park.
