Goose Point Park is located on Philpott Lake, and the campground features a boat ramp and fishing pier. The park is also next to the Fairystone Farms Wildlife Management Area, which offers campers hiking, fishing and mountain biking activities. There is also a nature center with educational programs for children at the wildlife management area.

Salthouse Branch Campground is located 13 miles from the Martinsville Speedway. The campground has 93 sites, 48 with electric and water connections. Salthouse Branch Campground is on Philpott Lake for boating, fishing and swimming activities. Amenities at the campground include bath and shower facilities, a playground and swimming beaches. Salthouse Branch Campground also has designated hiking and mountain biking trails for campers. The campground is open from April through October each year. There are four state-operated recreation areas that are all less than one mile from Salthouse Branch Campground. These areas have hiking, mountain biking, fishing and swimming activities for visitors.
