    • Those looking for a guaranteed flat spot to camp in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park need look no farther than Cades Cove Campground. The flat, relatively comfortable terrain of Cades Cove also makes this the most popular spot according to Frommer's. There are 139 multipurpose sites and 22 tent-only spots for camping at this Townsend campsite. Bathrooms and showers are available and will come in handy because you can rent bikes here and head out for the 11 miles of the Cades Cove Loop Road trail. Miles of hiking trails are also adjacent to Cades Cove Campground; the most popular hiking trail leads to Abrams Falls. You can fish here as long as you've got a valid fishing license and the trout is plentiful. This campground is also a popular spot for bears, so take precautions.

The Foothills Parkway provides a road biking path along Highway 73 and the Little River is perfect for kayaking or tubing, both of which are nearby. On-site fun includes a swimming pool, playground and game room. You'll also find a gift store and general store on the property.
