Campgrounds Near Shiloh, Tennessee

Shiloh is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee. It is next to the Shiloh National Military Park, which was the site of one of the largest battles in the Civil War. In addition to drawing history buffs, the Shiloh area attracts campers for its fishing, hiking and boating opportunities on the Tennessee River and in its numerous creeks and lakes. Two of the campgrounds closest to Shiloh are state parks.
  1. Pickwick Dam State Park

    • Pickwick Dam State Park is the closest public campground to Shiloh National Military Park. It is located 10 miles downriver from the park and 12 miles southeast of the town of Shiloh. Spread out over 1,400 acres of forested land, the park has 48 camping sites that come with a picnic table, grill and electric and water hookups. There are also three campsites that are very primitive. Guests can also opt to stay in the lodge or in cabins. The property includes a restaurant, a golf course, a 2.8-mile-long hiking trail, a bath house, boat ramp, picnic area and play fields. The restaurant specializes in Southern cuisine and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cabins are fully equipped with kitchens, cable TV and fireplaces.

    Green Acres RV Park

    • The Green Acres RV Park is situated 12 miles to the northeast of Shiloh in Savannah. On the grounds are restrooms, showers, a laundry facility, free Wi-FI and a covered picnic pavilion. The RV sites are pull-throughs with 30- and 50-amp electric hookups. For your recreation the park has a fishing pond and swimming pool. Pets are allowed, but must be leashed. Nearby are the Shiloh battlefield, Pickwick Lake, the Pickwick Belle Dinner Boat and multiple fishing and golf opportunities.

    Big Hill Pond State Park

    • The Big Hill Pond State Park is located approximately 15 miles to the west of Shiloh. No back-country camping is allowed, but backpackers can hike to four separate camp shelters. Three of these shelters are in remote areas. The shelters have six bunks and four or more people can sleep on the floor. There are also four campgrounds for scout groups such as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Features in the park include a boat ramp, 30 miles of hiking trails and horse trails. Mountain bikes are allowed on some of the trails. The park has 5,000 acres and borders Cypress Creek and Tuscumbia River, making fishing another popular activity for guests.
