How to Add a Shower in a Camper Van

A shower in a camper van can be added to the existing plumbing, but space will be limited. Pick a location for the shower pan that can double as floor space when the shower is not in use. A collapsible shower ring and curtain will also save space and keep the rest of the camper dry. Supplying plumbing to the shower faucet and drain will vary depending on the camper's current configuration.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a hole in the floor that will allow the shower pan to be installed below the surface of the floor. A shower pan cover should be placed over the shower pan so that it is flush with the camper floor when the shower is not in use.

    • 2

Attach the drain from the shower pan to the drain pipes that lead to the gray water drainage tank or the campsite water disposal connection.

    • 3

Install hot and cold supply lines to the shower faucet by placing T couplings in the existing hot and cold water pipes. The cold water supply line can connect directly to the fresh water tank if accessible. The hot water supply line can connect directly to the hot water tank output if it is accessible.

Mount a collapsible shower ring and shower curtain above the shower pan.
