Situated in West Galena, the Palace Campgrounds was founded in 1848 and its website says it's the oldest campground in the state. The campground is open from April 1 to Nov. 1 and is spread out over 50-wooded acres and it is the closest campground to downtown Galena, which is two miles away. It has accommodations for RVs and tents. Guests can also opt to stay in cabins that are air conditioned. All the camping sites have electric and water, while some also have sewer. The property includes three bathhouses, 16 showers, a heated swimming pool, a clubhouse, an arcade room, a playground and a miniature golf course. During the summer months, Palace Campgrounds shows outdoor movies and stages hayrides.

Open from the middle of April to the end of October, the Rustic Barn Campground is 17 miles away from Galena in the state of Wisconsin. On the property are 58-wooded sites that have water hookups and electric connections up to 50 amps. Of those 58 sites, 20 are long pull-throughs. Each site is within close walking distance of a bathhouse. Campers can also purchase firewood for the ground's fire pits. The campground has a chapel and a dumping station located at its entrance. The Rustic Barn itself has a store and lounge room that features rocking chairs, satellite TV, books, sofas and reclining chairs. The campground also has wireless and high-speed DSL Internet access.

The Seven Eagles Resort and Campground is approximately a 25-mile drive south of Galena in the town of Savanna, which is located along the Mississippi River. Guests can stay on primitive tent sites, in cabins or on RV sites that have 20- to 50-amp electric as well as water and sewer connections. On-site recreational activities include a heated pool, two playgrounds for children, paddle boats, a theater and a stocked fishing pond. A laundry facility and a bathhouse with free showers and paddle are among the other amenities.
