    Water Canyon Recreation Area

    • The Water Canyon Recreation Area is located approximately 4 miles east of Winnemucca and is managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Winnemucca Field Office. The recreation area, open year-around and fee free, is considered a "primitive" campground; meaning amenities are limited to camp area, campfire rings, tables, vault toilets and grills. In addition to the campground, the recreation area offers visitors hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, horseback riding and a riparian habitat, which is a rarity in Winnemucca's mostly desert ecosystem.
