Campgrounds in Ennis, Montana

Ennis, Montana, is located in Madison Valley, a valley that Native Americans called "The Land of the Shining Mountains." Yellowstone National Park is a mere hour-and-a-half drive from Ennis, and the scenery in this area is spectacular. The frost-free period in the Madison Valley lasts from the end of May to the middle of September, and the camping season sticks fairly closely to these dates. Most of the camping closest to Ennis is in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.

  1. Hilltop Campground

    • Campers at Hilltop Campground enjoy beautiful vistas at the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.

      Hilltop Campground is less than 45 miles southwest of Ennis, Montana, and is located in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. It is a 50-acre, forest service campground that allows pets and features hiking and fishing access trails. The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest is the largest national forest in Montana.

    Cliff Point Campground

    • Fishing and boating can be enjoyed at the Cliff Point Campground.

      Cliff Point Campground is located close to Hilltop Campground, and features fishing, swimming and boating. Pets are welcome at this campground as well, and hiking trails are available for these pets and their owners to enjoy.

    Madison River Campground

    • The Madison River offers fishing for its campers.

      Fishing is available in the Madison River Campground on the Madison River, and groceries are within one mile of the campground for those whose fishing bears less fruit than anticipated. The campground is 40 acres large, and is also located in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, but is only 34 miles south of Ennis on Highway 287.

    Wade Lake Campground

    • Wade Lake offers a boat launch and hiking for campers.

      Wade Lake Campground is located on Wade Lake in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, and is close to Hilltop and Cliff Point campgrounds. There is a boat launch, as well as hiking trails around the lake. Pets are welcome here as well.
