1. Temperate Forests (Up to 3,000 meters):
- This zone is characterized by lush forests of oak, maple, fir, spruce, and rhododendron.
2. Subalpine Forests (3,000-4,000 meters):
- The subalpine forests consist primarily of birch, juniper, and hemlock trees.
3. Alpine Meadows (4,000-5,000 meters):
- At these higher altitudes, the vegetation transitions into alpine meadows filled with wildflowers, grasses, and shrubs.
4. Nival Zone (Above 5,000 meters):
- This zone is characterized by sparse vegetation due to the extreme conditions, with plants adapted to the cold and high winds, such as lichens and mosses.
Beyond the Nival Zone, the vegetation eventually gives way to barren rocky terrain, glaciers, and snowfields at the summit of Mount Everest.
