Crescent City, Florida Campgrounds & RV Parks

Anyone who's cruised through Crescent City, Florida, has noticed the big oval welcome sign boasting, "Bass Capital of the World." It's hazy how largemouth black bass became synonymous with a tiny city formerly known for its citrus groves, but Crescent City takes its fishing seriously. Set on a high, wooded bluff with Lake Crescent to the east and Lake Stella to the west, Crescent City is surrounded by natural ecosystems that provide havens for both game fish and camping enthusiasts. Campers longing to sleep under star-studded skies can choose from four campgrounds within 10 miles of town.
  1. Crescent City Campground

    • Despite its country setting, Crescent City Campground offers amenities that rival the cosmopolitan RV resorts along the coast. Tall oaks lend shade to more than 80 full-hookup RV sites, 10 tent sites and a rental villa at this well-maintained 10-acre park. Hone your cannonball technique at the heated swimming pool, or gather friends for rousing games of horseshoes. The facility features lighted shuffleboard courts, a recreation room and a camp store stocked with souvenirs and gifts. Amenities include free wireless Internet access, cable TV, propane service, laundry facilities, restrooms and hot showers.

    Leonard's Landing Lake Crescent Resort

    • With direct access to 13-mile-long Lake Crescent, you know that Leonard's Landing Lake Crescent Resort focuses on angling. Bring your sunscreen, because you'll be spending plenty of time fishing for bass and crappie off the pier, cruising for that prime fishing spot in your boat or lazily lounging in your vessel at the on-site marina. A boat ramp and bait and tackle shop are on the premises, and a grocery store is across the street. While campsites are sunny and have lake views, the majority are reserved for seasonal visitors, with only a handful open to overnighters in tents or RVs. Most sites have full hookups, grills, picnic tables, cable TV and optional phone service. A heated swimming pool, snack bar, restaurant and pub keep campers active and well fed.

Georgetown Marina, Lodge and RV Park

    • Georgetown Marina, Lodge and RV Park, nine miles from Crescent City, is nestled along the banks of the St. Johns River at the mouth of Big Lake George, a 46,000-acre waterway famous for its bass fishing. The fish-centric campground offers a full-service marina where you can rent a boat or hire a fishing guide. For the adventurous, airboat charters take guests on tours during which you can swim with the fish in the springs or go on a gator hunt. The RV park features 33 full-hookup sites, with cable TV and concrete patios. Restrooms, showers, a dump station and laundry provide some of the comforts of home. Seven cozy cottages can sleep up to eight people and feature kitchens, full baths and screened-in patios. Unlike many of the back country campgrounds, the RV park has a full schedule of planned activities, including bingo, cookouts, potluck dinners and trips to shopping malls.

    Scrufty's Riverwood RV Park

    • You don't have to be an angler to camp at Scrufty’s Riverwood RV Park, but you might make fishing a new hobby after a stay at this scenic campground. Ten miles southwest of Crescent City in Georgetown, the RV park is set along the banks of the St. Johns River, a bass-fishing hot spot. Anglers arrive by boat or car to sleep to the sound of soft waves lapping at the shore near the park's 36 full-hookup RV sites, primitive tent sites, mobile home rentals and cabin rental. When you're not relaxing out on the water, play a lively game of ping-pong or horseshoes. Boat slips, a boat ramp and airboat rides enhance the campground's water-based theme.
