Hostel Richard is located in the heart of the Marais district, and due to its location, is great choice for a hostel if you plan on exploring this historic neighborhood. The price is right, with rooms starting at $51 (38 Euros) as of September 2010, but a major obstacle is the fact that the staff does not speak English, which may put a damper on communication. Several complaints about Hostel Richard have been made, the most notable being a lack of clean bedding and electrical outlets. But if you intend to just use the hostel as a place to rest your head at night while you explore the heart of Paris, Hostel Richard should not be considered a poor choice.

The Blue Planet Hostel has become quite popular with young backpackers, due to its excellent service and prices. The hostel offers the same room price all year round: about $33 (25 euros) as of September 2010. The staff speaks fluent English, and they are always happy to help you find restaurants, bars and other attractions. Hot showers, Internet and air conditioning are available at any time, and unlike other hostels, Blue Planet has no curfew. This gives you the freedom to explore Paris without having to sleep on a park bench! Breakfast is included with the room and is served every morning. Blue Planet also has one quirky feature: all the double rooms are bunkbeds. This could be fun for some people, as it brings back memories of your childhood, or it could be a nuisance, especially for couples.

The rooms at the Absolute Paris hostel are all large, with their own bathroom with showers, making this hostel a very private experience. Unlike other hostels with their bland decor and ambiance, the rooms at Absolute Paris are well decorated with a pleasant and up-beat color scheme, all adding to the friendly atmosphere. For young travellers, Absolute Paris is ideal, with tour packages of Paris available from the helpful staff (who speak fluent English) to help you with any concerns. Although a little on the expensive side compared to other hostels, with rates beginning at $47 (30 Euros) as of September 2010, the benefits are worth the price. Absolute Paris does not seem like a hostel: the beds are not on the floor, sheets do not require an additional fee and the staff seems eager to assist.
