The small town of Monument is located in what is known as the Rampart Range area; just on the outskirts of Pike National Forest. The natural setting of the town lends itself to tourism throughout the year. Lodging options directly in the town are few; however, those that exist fall more in the boutique hotel category as opposed to a large-scale hotel. The Sundance Mountain Lodge offers rooms set amongst the five total acres comprising the resort. A restaurant and conference facilities are also located on-site; along with hotel amenities including landscaped grounds featuring walkways with mountain views and waterfalls. The Rogers Inn The Pines is yet another lodging option right within Monument. Best known for being a bed and breakfast inn; this facility provides guests with ample space to relax throughout the property, breakfast every morning of their stay and an outdoor fire pit available for guests to use in the evenings.
Just to the south of Monument, and part of the general area, lies the United States Air Force Academy. With more than 1000 students entering the program every year, with the hopes of obtaining a bachelors degree to assume the position of second lieutenant in the Air Force upon graduation; the academy is an important element of the area. Many visitors travel to the academy to visit the college, students and faculty. Lodging options with a more boutique feel include the Colorado Springs Renaissance Hotel. This hotel is larger than most boutique hotels, however, the large guest rooms and sweeping views of both Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains help make this hotel feel more intimate. On-site guests have access to a fitness center, indoor swimming pool, spa, restaurant, lounge and business center. The Drury Inn Pikes Peak is yet another hotel choice while in the area and for those seeking to be close by to the academy. This hotel provides guests with standard size guest rooms with features including a complimentary breakfast buffet every morning, free Internet access and both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. The Black Forest Bed & Breakfast offers guests yet another option, with this choice being the homiest offering in the immediate area. This traditional bed and breakfast has updated rooms, plenty of lounging and relaxing space and daily breakfast made available for all guests.
The Woodland Park area is best known for being located in amongst the Pike National Forest. The one million acres of the Pike National Forest surround the town which is located less than twenty miles from Monument, though the drive takes upwards of one hour as you must go around portions of the park. Lodging choices such as The Country Lodge offers 60 rooms and the property includes an on-site conference room, indoor swimming pool and continental breakfast is served every morning. The Eagle Fire Lodge is another boutique style hotel in the area offering a total of fifteen available rooms. Additional lodging choices include the Bristlecone Lodge and Pikes Peak Paradise; both offering accommodations in a smaller-scale hotel setting.
Cascade, located less than 30 miles from Monument, is a distinctive area nearby that attracts visitors to the natural surroundings of the town. Named for and best known for the waterfalls inherent to the area; guests visiting Monument may opt to spend a night or two in Cascade for a different way to experience the adjacent Pike National Forest. Lodging choice for those seeking a boutique type hotel include Eastholme in the Rockies Bed and Breakfast which offers guests private rooms, complimentary breakfast and sitting areas throughout the property. The Inn at Cascade provides guests with distinctive hotel accommodations that are inspired by the natural surroundings of the property and the local culture.
