Stamford, Vermont Nearby Hotels

Stamford is a small town located in the southwestern corner of Vermont, virtually right on the border with Massachusetts. The town has been around since the mid-1700s. Its name means "stony ford." You can find a few lodging options in nearby towns on the other side of the Massachusetts border.

    • The Porches Inn is located about five miles to the south of Stamford in North Adams, Massachusetts. Porches is built out of renovated Victorian row houses, and the project was inspired by the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Porches' website describes its 47 rooms as having a "retro-edgy, industrial granny chic ambiance." Porches describes itself as a "green" establishment, seeking to reduce its carbon footprint by using eco-friendly cleaning agents, and supporting the local economy making breakfast using food purchased from local farmers and vendors.

    Whitcomb Summit Resort

    • Whitcomb Summit Resort lies to the east of Porches Inn in Florida, Massachusetts. It is situated on the Mohawk Trail on top of Florida Mountain on 19 acres of property with plans to expand to 40 more acres. The Whitcomb Summit aims to put guests as close to nature as possible. The hotel has its own tavern and restaurant featuring live entertainment with standard pub menu, as well as a full-service restaurant menu that the resort unveiled in the fall of 2010. The hotel is located conveniently near hiking trails, and features outside fire pits and barbecue grills as well as basic amenities.
