Oak Island is an island on the Atlantic coast of southeastern North Carolina. It was founded in 1999 by the consolidation of the towns of Long Beach and Yaupon Beach. Oak Island contains 28 miles of coastline and has seven parks, a dog park, 66 public beach accesses, two piers and two marinas. There are many outdoor activities including golfing, kayaking and surfing. The island offers several hotel and rental options.
