Campgrounds in Middle Georgia

Middle Georgia, or Georgia's central region, features such cities as Macon and Cochran, the latter of which plays host to Middle Georgia College. The region offers multiple campgrounds, many of which reside near lakes, rivers or ponds. Although some of the campgrounds operate year round, onsite swimming pools may only remain open during the warmer months, such as May through October.

  1. Hillside Bluegrass RV Park

    • Hillside Bluegrass RV Park resides in Cochran, upon 89 acres of land, in the midst of Middle Georgia. The small town of Cochran plays host to the annual Cochran-Bleckley Country Fest Arts and Crafts Fair and the bi-annual Hillside Bluegrass Festival. All of the sites offer electricity and water hookups, while some include sewer facilities. The campground features multiple pavilions and a large amphitheater. An onsite clubhouse, used for special events, comes outfitted with a full kitchen. Guests can utilize a host of outdoor attractions, including a massive playing field, horseshoe pits, playgrounds, hiking trails, a fishing pond, as well as basketball and volleyball courts. The campground also rents out bicycles free of charge.

    Scenic Mountain RV/Cabin Resort

    • Situated just five minutes from the town of Milledgeville, Georgia, the Scenic Mountain RV/Cabin Resort offers 120 RV campsites, many of which include full hook-ups. Spread across 108 acres, the campground offers fully furnished cabins for rent as well. The resort includes a swimming pool, a spa, five fishing ponds and multiple nature trails. The campground also features a convenience store, propane filling stations and laundry facilities. Despite its name, the resort's own DoNut Shoppe Breakfast Café serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests can make their way to Milledgeville for a historic trolley tour, with stops at the 1807 Old State Capitol and St. Stephens Episcopal Church, erected in 1841. The historic city also plays host to an upscale farmers market from early May to late November.

    Forsyth KOA

    • Located approximately 25 miles north of Macon, Georgia, the Forsyth KOA resides near scores of lakes and rivers. The town of Forsyth itself offers a historic district, complete with a Confederate Cemetery and the 1896 Monroe County courthouse. The town hosts the annual Forsythia Festival featuring various arts and crafts, sporting events, food booths and live entertainment. On the premises, guests will find such amenities as a swimming pool, a playground and a pond used for boating and fishing. The campground accommodates both tent and RV campers, and offers one room cabins for rent. Guests have access to free LP gas, wireless Internet capabilities, bicycle rentals, as well as cable, water, sewer and electricity hookups. An onsite convenience store provides souvenirs, sundries, snacks and camping supplies.
