Upstate South Carolina is known for it's scenic beauty and natural wildlife. For these reasons, the area is a popular hunting destination. The hunting lodges outlined here are operated year round. However, animals can be hunted in season. All hunting trips require a hunting license, and special short-term permits can be purchased at parks and wildlife offices and occasionally onsite.
Buck Run Hunting Lodge is an intimate hunting facility in Estill, which is available for small and large hunting parties throughout the year. The hunting ground is a mixture of forest and swampland with a large number of marshes and tall grass to wade through. Available hunting packages include deer, hog, quail and turkey hunts, as well as combination hunts. The hunting lodge has six bedrooms, four baths, and several recreational and lounging areas. There is an large refrigerated storage area, as well as big-screen cable television. Reservations require a 50 percent deposit, and should be made at least two months in advance.

The Cedar Knoll Hunting Lodge is a 2,000-acre facility in Fairfax, South Carolina specializing in deer and hog hunts throughout the year. The lodge and recreation hall, which can accommodate up to 30 guests, has multiple bunk rooms, full kitchen and bathroom, as well as a rec room with a pool table. Private suites are available on request. Most packages start at two-day trips, but extended packages are available. There is also a trailer park onsite with water, electric and sewage hookups. Other amenities include a practice shooting range and walk-in freezer facilities.

The Black River Plantation is an expansive, privately owned hunting lodge in New Zion, available for two and three-day hunting trips throughout the year. Black River Plantation spans 3,000 acres and specializes boar and turkey hunts, as well as dove hunting. There are several oversized ponds and connection points to the Black River onsite, many of them shaded. These are popular fishing spots and the Black River Plantation and catfish and bass fishing packages are also available. There are numerous cabins and large bunkhouses located in several sections of the park. Each cabin has multiple bunks, a small kitchen, dining, and television room. Hunting packages vary by day and animal, and the company recommends making reservations at least three months in advance.
