Sault Saint Marie, Michigan, is the third-oldest city in the United States, founded in 1668. The town is located in the upper peninsula, on the Saint Marys River, whose Soo Locks are the busiest locks in the world. Sault (pronounced "soo") Saint Marie has many different attractions to offer tourists -- historical sights, fishing, golf, cruising and even walking tours of ghostly ships, graveyards and other spooky points of interest. Those interested in the outdoors can take advantage of the city's lakes, rivers, forests and waterfalls. Visitors making the trip via RV can find parks located near points of interest.
The Aune-Osborn Campground, operated by the city,is located on 20 acres along the lower part of the Saint Marys River. It has 100 recreational vehicle (RV) sites, all with electric and water hook-ups. Twenty-four of the sites are waterfront, with the remaining 76 having views of the river. New shower and restroom facilities were built in 2007, and the campground offers an RV dump station, fish-cleaning station and boat launch. The Kewadin Hotel and Casino in Sault Saint Marie operates an inexpensive RV park on the premises. The park is located at the southwest entrance to the casino and, as of February 2010, charges $10 per night. It has 75 RV sites, 20 which are pull-through, and 40-amp electrical service. The park also has showers and an RV dump station. Park guests are not only in close proximity to all the attractions of the casino--which include gaming, tournaments, events, concerts and restaurant--they also get use of the hotel's indoor pool.

Soo Locks campground has 100 RV sites, 31 with views of the Saint Marys River. A viewing area along the shore allows all guests to enjoy the river. All sites include water and 30-amp electrical services. Soo Locks offers hot shower facilities, free coffee, laundry, an on-site store stocked with RV supplies, game room and boat docks. Guests are also free to use the wireless Internet access, dump station, gift shop and lounge area. Returning campers get free RV storage. Pets are welcome.
