Popular with hikers, the ranch's four dorms are segregated by gender. Each includes ten bunk beds and a communal bathroom with shower. Linens, soap and towels are provided.

Reservations for lodging and dining are essential and can be made 13 months in advance.
The most common route to Phantom Ranch is the South Kaibab Trail down and the Bright Angel trail out. Day hiking trails are accessible from the ranch.
The ranch doesn't require a backcountry permit. Trash must be carried out.
