Vidalia, Georgia State Parks Cabins

Vidalia, Georgia, referred to as "Sweet Onion City" for its famous crop of onions, hosts an Onion Festival Weekend in the spring of each year. While there are no state park cabins located directly in Vidalia, there are two nearby state parks that have cottages for rent.
  1. Locations

    • George L. Smith State Park is located in Twin City, just 34 miles north of Vidalia. The park covers 1,634 acres and contains a 412-acre lake. Besides fishing and boating, there are 10 miles of canoe trials and seven miles of waking and biking trails. Little Ocmulgee State Lodge Park is situated in Helena, 32 miles west of Vidalia. Its 1,265 acres consist of high sand hills and pine forests. Ocmulgee has an 18-hole golf course, a 265-acre lake, lighted tennis courts, miniature golf and a nature trail.

    Accommodations

    • George L. Smith State Park offers eight two-bedroom cottages that can accommodate eight guests in each. One of the cottages permits up to two dogs for an extra fee. Little Ocmulgee features ten cottages--two efficiencies, two one-bedroom and six two-bedroom units, accommodating from three to six guests.

    Amenities

    • The cottages at George L. Smith include a fully equipped kitchen, linens, heat and air-conditioning, gas fireplace, Direc TV, a screened porch, grill and picnic table. There are no phones. Little Ocmulgee cottages include showers--some have a full bath-- a fully equipped kitchen, linens, air-conditioning, electric heat and a grill. There are no televisions or phones. Both parks offer ADA-accessible cottages.
