Many people need to change their driver's license either due to a move or a name change. Florida's procedures are fairly easy.
Go to http://www.flhsmv.gov/. At the top of the website is a drop-down menu next to "Handle It Online!" Choose "Address Change" if that is what you need.
The drop-down link will take you to GoRenew.com, which offers service in Spanish or English. Click on "I agree" under the privacy announcement. This takes you to a "Locate Your Records" page. Enter your identifying information. You will be directed to address change and verification forms.
To change a name on your driver's license, you will have to visit an office. It's best to make an appointment. Lines can be long.
To see name-change requirements, go to http://www.flhsmv.gov/ddl/namechange.html.
At the driver's license office, you will need to show proof of legal name change, the incorrect license, all other required documents and a license replacement fee. A new license will be issued which can also include an address change. If you need to also present proof of citizenship, bring identification documentation for that, too. For more information and a complete list of documents you might need, see Gogatherget.com.
To make an appointment, go to the "Handle It Online!" drop-down, and select "Appointments." It will direct you as you schedule a time.
A list of offices in the area you chose will show up. It will also give you the first available date and time. If that date or time does not work for you, you can click on additional dates and choose a date that works for you. If the date and time given works for you, click "select."
Enter your name, date of birth, gender, phone number, and e-mail address. Your appointment will be set. If you need to cancel your appointment, you can go the site's homepage, click appointments, and choose "cancel appointment."
