Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters Hints

The Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride is located in Disneyland in Anaheim, California. In this ride, guests board an XP-40 Space Cruiser and embark on an important mission to defeat the Evil Emperor Zurg. Each guest has a blaster gun to shoot at various enemies along the way. The ride will keep score for you as you play and assign you a skill level at the end. By following some easy hints, you can aim for a new personal high score each time you play.
  1. Points

    • Throughout the ride, you score points for each target you hit with your laser blaster. Take note of each target's shape, as this determines how many points it is worth. Round targets are the most common, but these are only worth 100 points. Square targets are worth 1,000 points, diamond targets are worth 5,000 points and triangle targets are worth 10,000 points. As you enter each scene, quickly scan the room and focus on the targets that are worth the most points. You can shoot each target multiple times, so if you find a diamond or a triangle, your best strategy is to keep shooting it until you are out of range. The back of your gun will flash white to let you know that you are hitting your target.

    Hidden Targets

    • Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters has several secret targets hidden throughout that can really help to increase your score. You will see Emperor Zurg twice during the ride. Aim for the center of his chest just below his cape for a 50,000 point bonus. Try to hit this target multiple times to really increase your score. Keep your eyes open for a jack-in-the-box sitting on the floor. Shoot the target on the jack-in-box to get it to open. When the box opens, you will find a diamond target on the inside of the lid and a triangle target on the toy inside. In the dark speed tunnel, you can find a triangle target on the right as you enter the tunnel and one on the left as you exit it. You may also be able to spot the two diamond targets on the ceiling of the tunnel, though these can be difficult to see.

    Levels

    • At the end of the ride, you will see the corresponding level for your score. If you are shooting for a specific level, you can keep the following point breakdown in mind as you play. Zero to 1,000 points will make you a Level 1 Star Cadet. Level 2 Space Ace is 1,001 to 10,000 points; Level 3 Planetary Pilot is 10,001 to 100,000 points; Level 4 Space Scout is 100,001 to 300,000 points; Level 5 Ranger 1st Class is 300,001 to 600,000 points and Level 6 Cosmic Commando is 600,001 to 999,999 points. If you score more than 1,000,000 points, you will achieve Level 7 Galactic Hero. Though you won't actually win anything, regardless of your score, it can be fun to challenge yourself and your friends to achieve a certain level.
