Starke, Florida is a small city of roughly 5,800 residents located in the northern Florida county of Bradford. Established in the mid-1800s, Starke is best known for its close proximity to both Camp Blanding, the main training base of the Florida National Guard, and Florida State Prison, or "Death Row," the execution site of many well-known criminals, including Ted Bundy. Visitors to Starke will find that the city offers tourists a variety of attractions to enjoy during their stay.
  1. Camp Blanding Museum and Memorial Park

    • The Camp Blanding Museum and Memorial Park is a free, public museum located at the main gate entrance of Camp Blanding. The attraction's museum features several exhibits detailing the history and importance of Camp Blanding, including displays of vehicles used during military maneuvers. The memorial park features memorials dedicated to those who have served at Camp Blanding during its 71-year history, including a Purple Heart memorial and a memorial commemorating the 66th Infantry Division, which suffered many casualties during a World War II tour of duty. The museum and memorial park is open every day except Mondays between 12pm and 4pm and offers ample parking for all vehicle types.

    Starke Golf & Country Club

    • The Starke Golf & Country Club is a nine-hole golf course and driving range open to the public. Open since 1959, the club is the home of the Strawberry Invitational and offers visitors over 3,200 yards of green on which to play, as well as a clubhouse where guests can enjoy meals. In addition, the club features a pro shop, where guests can purchase golf club, golf bags and other golfing paraphernalia. The club has on-site parking that accommodates all vehicle types. Calling the club directly for its tee times and prices is recommended.

    Camp Crystal Lake

    • Camp Crystal Lake is an outdoor camp and educational center aimed at providing activities for children ages 12 to 17. Visitors to the camp can participate in up to five activities, including water skiing, sailing and archery, each lasting one day, Monday through Friday, every week. Visitors can also sign up for a four-night canoeing adventure, where they will depart from the camp on Monday and return Friday. Visitors are asked to sign up beforehand for camp activities and trip spaces.
