How to Make Sure Your Passport Is Valid
If you are traveling abroad, you cannot enter a different country or reenter the U.S. without a valid passport, including Mexico and Canada. It is important to make sure that your passport is valid up to 90 days past your stay, if required by the country you are visiting. It is not hard to find out when your passport expires, if you have the document. Without the document there is no way to find out if it is valid.

Open your passport to the inside of the cover.

Read the second to last line "Date of expiration," which displays when your passport expires.

Add 90 days to see if it will be valid long enough to meet country entry requirements. If not, apply to renew your passport.
