How to Fold Clothing in Your Luggage When You Are Packing

Packing for vacation, whether it's for business or pleasure, can be time consuming. You want to pack the right clothing and accessories, but you don't want to overpack and pay additional luggage fees charged by airlines. The manner in which you fold your clothing into your luggage plays a large part in keeping clothes from acquiring wrinkles and packing as much as possible into fewer bags. Start with a packing list that outlines your travel wardrobe needs to eliminate overpacking.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather all of the garments from your packing list, and lay them out. Group similar items together. Put all t-shirts in one pile, pants in another and undergarments in another before you begin folding.

    • 2

Use the stacking method of folding to pack your clothes. Fold each item individually and place each item into your luggage on top of other items. Place heavier items, such as jeans, on the bottom and lighter pieces on top.

    • 3

Maximize space by folding more than one item together. For example, stack two t-shirts together, and fold them as one item.

    • 4

Roll clothing, which saves space and creates fewer wrinkles in your garments. When placing rolled items in your luggage, pack them tightly together to keep items from unrolling.
