Gather your identification and other materials. The Department of State requires that you present your birth certificate or proof of citizenship and a current form of primary identification, such as a driver's license or military ID. In addition, you will need to provide two identical passport photos, which you can have taken at a variety of locations. You will also need funds for the application and processing fees, which are due when you apply.
Make an appointment at the Minneapolis Passport Agency office. The office is located in downtown Minneapolis, and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., five days a week. You must have an appointment in order to be admitted to the office. You can schedule an appointment over the phone with an automated system. The agency can issue same-day passports to customers with emergency situations, and it is a quick processing site for all other passport needs. Appointments aren't needed at other facilities.
Go to a Hennepin County Service Center. Hennepin County has seven service centers throughout the region, including the main building in Minneapolis. These centers have passport processing facilities and can accept your application. The service centers have varying hours, and a few are open on Saturdays.
