How to Renew a Child's Passport in Houston, Texas

Many children never have the opportunity to travel abroad and don't need passports. However, if your child has traveled from a young age, he might need to renew his passport before other children have even applied for their first one. While the process of renewing a passport has a reputation for being bureaucratic, it doesn't have to be. It can be handled at many post offices in Houston.

  • One passport-sized photo (2 x 2 inches, in color)

Appear in person with your child at the local facility; lists of Houston facilities can be found on the state.gov website. If only one parent accompanies the child, the other parent must have filled out a signed statement of consent, as both parents must consent to the child renewing the passport.
