Do I Need a Visa to Visit UK From Bolivia?

From May 18, 2009, Bolivian nationals visiting the United Kingdom must be in possession of a valid visa (Part 7.4 of Statement of Changes in Rules to Immigration Act, 1971, HC 413, April 24, 2009). The process has two stages.
  1. Identification

    • The regulation applies to Bolivian nationals regardless of whether the travel is short or long term (e.g., for study) or for transit through the United Kingdom. The rule does not apply to small businesses (Part 11 of Statement of Changes in Rules to Immigration Act 1971, HC 413 24 Apr. 2009).

    Application Process--Stage 1

    • Applications must be submitted online (see the link in Resources).

    Application Process--Stage 2

    • An in-person appointment is then necessary at the British Embassy in La Paz, at which time supporting documentation must be supplied (photographs, copy of online application, digital fingerprinting). The embassy at La Paz is the only facility designated to process UK visa applications.

    Fees

    • Application fees vary, depending on the category of applicant (see the Resources link).
