The Maglite 6D is constructed from anodized aluminum, making the flashlight durable and weatherproof. The joins and power button are sealed with rubber to keep moisture from entering the flashlight.
The Maglite 6D is 19.5-inches long and has a barrel width of 1.56-inches. The head has a width of 2.25-inches. The 6D is quite heavy, weighing 50 ounces.
The 6D uses a Xenon lamp that provides 57,000 candlepower at its brightest. A spare lamp is provided in the tailcap of the flashlight.
As its name suggests, the Maglite 6D requires six D-cell batteries to function. The batteries are inserted by unscrewing the tailcap and placed one by one into the barrel of the flashlight. The batteries last for approximately 10 to 11 continuous hours.
