International Touring Grants

Touring expenses can get costly. From costumes or musical instrument transportation to renting a venue for a live performance, artists often seek financial help for international touring dates. Arts councils recognize international touring as an opportunity to share regional talent with the world. Local and regional art councils offer grants to help cover fees related to touring costs so that artists can share their talent through performances and cross cultural exchanges. While grants often cater to dancers, musicians and other performance based arts, councils also help fund gallery exhibitions and some literary tours.
  1. Ontario Arts Council

    • The Ontario Arts Council extends national and international touring grants to professional artists and arts organizations to tour live. The council supports live arts performances, gallery and museum exhibitions and art events that contribute to the development or appreciation for a particular art by Ontario artists.

Interested applications for the international touring program need to have a minimum of three prior touring engagements to significant public arts festivals or arts events; this cuts down on artists applying who are not in as much need for touring money. Artists may request an amount of money. Usually the council gives project grants outright, meaning checks come with acceptance letters. The council awards grants annually.
