The Ontario Arts Council extends national and international touring grants to professional artists and arts organizations to tour live. The council supports live arts performances, gallery and museum exhibitions and art events that contribute to the development or appreciation for a particular art by Ontario artists.
Interested applications for the international touring program need to have a minimum of three prior touring engagements to significant public arts festivals or arts events; this cuts down on artists applying who are not in as much need for touring money. Artists may request an amount of money. Usually the council gives project grants outright, meaning checks come with acceptance letters. The council awards grants annually.
