Animal Kingdom Information

Disney's Animal Kingdom is the largest Disney theme park in the world. This park features thrill rides, shows and attractions inspired by real wildlife, extinct animals and mythic creatures. The Animal Kingdom is part of the Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida and is open every day of the year.
  1. History

    • Disney's Animal Kingdom opened its gates to visitors for the first time in 1998. Since opening day, guests of the theme park have been able to see a wide variety of animals from around the world in natural settings. Headlining attractions on opening day included Kilimanjaro Safari, Kali River Rapids and "It's Tough to Be a Bug". The most recent Animal Kingdom addition is the Expedition Everest roller coaster, which debuted in 2006.

    Rides and Atrractions

    • The Animal Kingdom is divided into seven diverse lands, and each land has its own attractions and offerings. The fast and furious Expedition Everest dominates Asia, and the popular Kilimanjaro Safari is located in Africa, while DINOSAUR! draws guests to Dinoland U.S.A. "Festival of the Lion King" is the headlining attraction of Camp Mickey-Minnie, and guests of all ages can enjoy Conservation Station at Rafiki's Planet Watch. The Oasis and Discovery Island areas feature animal exhibits and quiet walking trails.

    Animals

    • Guests visiting the Animal Kingdom can expect to see a host of live exotic creatures like lions, tigers, crocodiles and giraffes. Representations of extinct animals like dinosaurs are featured in the the Dinoland attractions, and mythological beasts like the Yeti can be spotted in Asia.
