How to Apply for an Employment Visa in the United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates in the last few years has increasingly become a popular employment destination for foreigners from all over the world, even as companies open operations centers in Dubai. Like in any other country, to work in the UAE you will need the proper visa and permit.

      Get a job with a reputable employer in the UAE. Your getting an employment visa is largely dependent on getting an employer to sponsor your application.

      Apply for an employment visa or entry permit at a local UAE embassy or consulate. You will need a valid passport, completed application, all documents relating to your employment and any other documents required by your local consulate. Once you are issued an employment visa or entry permit you will be admitted into the UAE. The permit is for a period of 30 days and is usually valid for two months. Once in the UAE you will have to apply with the help of your employer for the proper permit that allows you to live in the country long term.

      Complete the health certification process. This is the first step in getting approved for your residency. You will need to apply for and undergo a medical exam after which your will be issued a health card.

      Obtain a labor card. Your employer will have to assist you in filing an application for a labor card with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. This application should be filed within 30 days of being in the country.

      Apply for a resident visa stamp. Once you have your health certification and labor card you will need to file an application with the Immigration Department for a resident visa stamp. The visa is typically valid for three years. This allows you to come in and out of the UAE. The entire process should be completed within 60 days of first entering the UAE.
