Gay Bars in Lima

As the largest city in Peru, Lima is a perfect mix of old and new. The city offers historical attractions, including centuries old churches and museums showcasing ancient Peruvian artifacts. But Lima is also a modern city with modern nightlife, and that includes bars that target gay residents and tourists. Many of the bars are located in the Lima Centro and Miraflores districts of the city, with a couple more popping up in other districts.
  1. Lima Centro

    • Lima Centro, also known as the City Center of Lima, is the downtown area. Visitors can find a variety of gay bars in this area. In fact, diversity is found in two clubs that share the same building. Laberynto and the Minatauro Club (Jiron de la union 1088) are located right next door to each other and offer different experiences for different visitors. Laverytno offers a dance experience, with video screens and special lighting effects. It also has two dance floors on different levels. The Minatauro Club is more laid back with seating areas, a smoking lounge and a DJ.

Like Laberynto, Sagitario (Avenue Wilson 869) is purely focused on dancing. In fact, the club offers a large dance floor with nightly events. Some events include guest DJs, musical acts and strip shows.

    Miraflores district

    • The Miraflores region of Lima, a prime tourist destination near the Pacific Ocean, has quite a few gay bars. Downtown Vale Todo (Pasaje Los Pinos 160) offers a little bit of everything. Depending on the night, visitors can find drag performances, strip shows, and resident DJs playing dance music. For example, Monday offers Noche de Discoteca, a night filled with just dance music.

Dance music is a specialty at Legendaris (Berlin 363). This dance club has a bar and dance floor on the ground floor level, as well as on each of its two balcony spaces. The club also has special event nights, including ladies night on Monday, strippers on Wednesday and dancing through the weekend.

If all of the dancing and clubbing isn't your thing, you can check out BoBo Bar (Manuel Bonilla). According to the bar's website, it aims to be a "cosmopolitan place" where everyone can feel comfortable. The bar has a laid back atmosphere with lounge spaces for enjoying cocktails and in-house DJs.

    San Borja and Lince districts

    • While most of the gay bars are situated in the Miraflores and Lima Centro regions, a couple more bars in other Lima districts do exist. La Cueva (Avenu Aviación 2514), in the San Borja area, has a dance floor and bar. While not as large as dance clubs such as Laberytno and Legendars, La Cueva plays popular dance and disco tracks every night and is well known for special events. The La Cueva website has an extensive photo archive of previous special events, from drag shows to Halloween parties.

Andel Bar (Belisario Flores 270) in the Lince district has a café, video bar and karaoke. If you are not up for singing (or listening to others sing) the latest pop songs, you can get comfortable with a drink in the video bar. Andel Bar also has a hostel in the same location for visitors who become too tired to leave for the night.
