Freedom Hill Park is located in Macomb County, Michigan, in the city of Sterling Heights. This multipurpose park encompasses more than 100 acres of land, including an amphitheater that serves as a venue for many events. Throughout the year, the park plays host to several festivals and community-based activities.
Freedom Hill Amphitheater has hosted concerts since 1999, featuring popular performers such as Diana Ross, The Temptations, Willie Nelson, and The Beach Boys. Concert tickets can purchased through the onsite box office or online through Ticketmaster. Gates open 90 minutes prior to concerts. The amphitheater features a concession stand for purchasing snacks and beverages. An ATM machine is locate din the main concourse. Video cameras are prohibited and still photography policies vary by performance.
In 2013, Freedom Hill attracted 500,000 visitors to its facilities. Organizations, businesses, and families can rent the grounds for private or public events. The Banquet and Event Center accommodates up to 250 guests for weddings, showers, corporate events and other occasions. The D Las Vegas VIP Club engages the park's indoor and outdoor venues for dinner and show packages accommodating parties of up to 500 people.
Each year, Freedom Hill Park hosts a variety of music festivals, including the Stars & Stripes Festival, Michigan's largest free festival. Stars & Stripes Festival presents live entertainment, an art fair, carnival and salute to the U.S. Military. In addition, military displays and ceremonies take place on the park grounds throughout the year. A Vietnam War Memorial was dedicated there on July 4th 2006; it features a display of a UH-1 Iroquois military aircraft. Other Freedom Hill festivals include Harley Fest, the Mo Pop Festival and the free Italian Festival.
Freedom Hill Park's Metroparkway Hike and Bike Trail offers a place for walking, jogging, biking, and rollerblading. Outdoor pavilions provide charm and respite for athletes needing a break during their workouts. Also within the park are children's playgrounds, barbecue grills, and a volleyball area. Freedom Park trails connect the park to Metro Beach, a 750-acre peninsula that extends into Lake St. Clair.
