Michigan has more than 400 member golf clubs along with public golf courses for players of all levels. Golf events occur through the year in Michigan, offering attendees the opportunity to see the latest products and learn about new services. Throughout the year, golf enthusiasts in Michigan will have access to refine their golf games with some of the numerous events around the state.
Located in Novi, Michigan, the Michigan Golf Show celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2011. More than 400 exhibitors highlight goods and services representing all areas of golf descend upon Novi for the three-day event. Highlights include a longest drive contest, 100 feet of hitting nets, door prizes and a $25,000 hole-in-one challenge. Events for young golfers include a junior golf demonstration as well as free instructions. The event is open to the public and costs $10 for adults with children 12 and under free.
Golf Association Members (GAM) of Michigan can participate in the Golf Day series, golf events that take place at 14 GAM courses, and showcase their golfing abilities. Events are scheduled throughout the spring, summer and fall, culminating with a championship after the series is completed. The Golf Day serves as a way to network with other professionals who share interests in golf.
Golf activities can be held at venues other than golf courses. The Michigan Golf Course Superintendents Association hosts an annual fundraiser at the Galaxy Lanes in Grand Blanc. Highlights include lunch, three games of bowling and a 50/50 raffle. The proceeds benefit the Michigan Golf Course Superintendents Association Foundation.
For 30 years, the Ernest Fuller Cup has been a premier event for members of the Golf Association of Michigan. The format of the Ernest Fuller Cup involves six four-ball matches as well as single matches. The golf matches count as one point and the player with the most points at the end of the event is crowned the winner. Professional and amateur golfers are encouraged to play.
