The Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association holds an annual event in late August that will take place for the 33rd straight year in 2011. The show features a range of activities, including tractor pulling events. Other highlights include live crop harvesting, threshing, plowing and tillage demonstrations. On the grounds are a veneer mill, blacksmith shop, sawmill and flour mill. Tractors and other machines are on display at an event that also has a bingo tent, flea market, and arts and crafts areas. Food vendors are on hand. Live music and dancing take place during the three-day event that has an admission charge and takes places in the town of Oakley.
The Northwest Michigan Engine & Thresher Club holds an annual event called the Buckley Old Engine Show during the third week of August. The show takes place in the town of Buckley, which is in the northwestern part of Lower Michigan and in the Manistee National Forest area. The show draws thousands of spectators each year. Food vendors are on hand at a show that has tractor pulls, tractor races and a cider mill demonstration. A play area and scavenger hunt are available for children. Additional features include tractor displays, a farm animal exhibit, a sawmill from the 1800s, a woodworking shop, a blacksmith shops, a daily parade, a flea market and an antique car display. Live music is also provided. The show has an admission charge.
The Coopersville Summerfest holds an annual event in early August that includes the Coopersville Tractor Show at the Coopersville Farm Museum in Western Michigan. The tractor show was held for the 12th straight year in 2011. Tractors are on display as well as various farm equipment from the last 100 years. There is no admission charge for a show with powder puff tractor games, a driving competition and an auction. Additional highlights at the six-day summerfest include food vendors, fireworks, antique car cruises, live musical entertainment and a car show. An assortment of arts and crafts are on display. A children's triathlon is also held.
The Thumb Area Old Engine and Tractor Show took place for the 31st year in a row in 2011. The show is held at the Tuscola County Fairgrounds in Caro, which is in the northern section of lower Michigan. There are working displays of threshing, baling, saw mills, shingle mills and gas engines. Antique tractors are also on display. Live music is provided during the three-day event, which also includes a flea market. The admission charge is donated to the Thumb Area Old Engine and Tractor Association. Children under 12 are admitted for free.
