Performing Arts Summer Camps for Teenagers

Performing arts summer camps are available for adolescents with no experience in acting or performing, as well as for those with previous exposure to the arts. Throughout these summer programs, campers receive instruction in stage acting, vocal training, film production and more. Programs range in length from four days to eight weeks and most are residential programs that include lodging and meals.

  1. Ballibay for the Fine and Performing Arts

    • Ballibay for the Fine and Performing Arts offers summer camps for children between the ages of six and 16. The camps range in length from two to eight weeks. Campers choose their personal areas of interest to pursue throughout the program. Options include theater, music, dance, video and the visual arts. Camps are open to children with little or no experience in acting and introduce them to the art through modern plays, musicals and Shakespeare. Throughout the program, students perform in a variety of short plays and full-length productions with realistic costumes, stage sets and lighting. Professional staff members prepare students for each performance with acting and vocal instruction and choreography rehearsals for musical theater productions. Campers also participate in nightly events including camper cabarets, dance parties, movie nights and concerts.

    New York Film Academy

    • The New York Film Academy has summer programs available for adolescents between 13 and 17 years of age. Campers can choose from a one to six-week acting camp or a four-week musical theater camp. In acting camp, participants learn advanced acting for film and television, scene study and audition techniques. Campers may also elect for instruction in stage combat, special effects and more. The musical theater camp includes courses entitled "Movement/Dance," "Voice and Music," "Scene into Song, "Song-alogue" for soloist experience, "Movie Musicals" and "Performance Lab." At the conclusion of each program, campers stage a final production for family and friends.

    Young Actors Camp

    • The Young Actors Camp offers short programs to introduce campers to acting work and casting, as well as longer and more intensive programs for individuals interested in an acting career. Campers learn about on-camera acting techniques, audition techniques for film and television, and they participate in commercial and sitcom workshops. Electives include stage combat, modeling and pageantry, voice-over, stand-up comedy and a television correspondent course. Campers also learn about the roles of various industry professionals such as casting directors and talent agents. Campers end the program with a head-shot portfolio and industry-ready resume. Children stay at the Azusa Pacific University campus and receive buffet-style meals through the program.
