Kids Activities Near Rolla, Missouri

Rolla, Missouri is located in the Meramec Valley region of the state. It is halfway between the larger cities of St. Louis and Springfield. With historic ties to Route 66 and the United States railroad industry, Rolla is a natural paradise for people who enjoy the outdoors. Hiking, fishing, canoeing and biking among multi-acred parks and miles of trails are just some of the fun activities for kids to be found in and around Rolla.

  1. Rolla Skate Park

    • This skateboard park was opened in 2002 and has been a big draw for Rolla kids ever since. Open daily for activity from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during June, July and August and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the other 9 months, the park features ramps and pikes and lots of wide open concrete space. The park is designed for use by kids 8 and over. Children under that age must be accompanied by an adult. Helmets are required to be worn by anyone inside of the gates. Knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards are strongly encouraged. Rolla Skate Park is not supervised or insured.

    Mark Twain National Forest

    • Lane Springs is a campsite within the Mark Twain National Forest. Located about 7 miles south of Rolla, Missouri on High 63 and set along Little Piney Creek, a single day admission is $2 per car and $10 per bus. In addition to 18 campsites (some with electricity), grills, pavilions, tables and restrooms, Lane Springs has a number of activities for kids and families to include swimming, fishing, boating and canoeing, hiking trails and scenic areas.

    The Centre

    • The Centre is Rolla's 4,000-square foot health and recreation complex. Annual memberships are always available, but non-members can take advantage of its many offerings for a daily fee based on age. Featuring two gymnasiums, an indoor walking, weight rooms and numerous outdoor fields for kids sports leagues, the biggest draw for children is the Centre's aquatics facilities. This area has an Olympic-sized pool in addition to a 3-story water slide and a lazy river. In the summer, the Centre's outdoor Splash Zone water park opens to everyone for $4.50 per daily admission. Operating hours are weekdays from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and weekends from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It can also be rented for private events.
